First licensed novice WN5BGJ in 1971. Used a DX-60 transmitter and HQ-110C receiver. Had a lot of fun. My elmer was my Dad, K5QEW. Dad was first licensed as KN5QEW back in the 50's. He taught me the code. I upgraded to Extra Class (20 wpm) with new callsign WQ5Q in 1986.

Current station:
SSB/CW/AM:  Flex 3000 transceiver, Collins 30L-1 amplifier, Millen 92200 transmatch, 40/80 meter dipole coax fed at 35'

My latest project is a retired working 1974 Gates BC-1H1 AM broadcast transmitter that I'm converting to the ham bands.   This transmitter first went on the air the same year I graduated from college!   It uses a pair of 833A triodes in the RF Final and another pair in the Modulator Final.
