WE'RE ALL GOING TO BURN-UP

A thermonuclear war would do it. Two nations alone, Russia and The United States, have the means to destroy every living thing on the surface of planet earth, but people are already dying by the hundreds due to wildfires spreading all over the globe. New records for  higher temperatures and for scorched acres are being established on every continent.

Associated Press Reported that two fires in Mendocino Valley California are threatening to produce an all-time 428,000-acre inferno if two enormous blazes converge about 100 miles north of San Francisco. It is predicted that as many as 9,000 buildings will be incinerated. Farther north, a deadly blaze has destroyed more than 1,000 homes, displaced 38,000 people and killed two firefighters and four homeowners.

In Europe, wildfires have killed 60 persons, burned in cars, in Portugal. More people are threatened in southern France outside of Nice, in northern Spain and on the island of Corsica. Yesterday, Italian officials reported 900 wildfires were ablaze in their country. At Split, the second largest city in Croatia, fires were spreading across thousands of acres of Mediterranean coastline.

All of this can be blamed on a superheated atmosphere, the result of the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that began increasing with the industrial revolution in 1722. The invention of the steam engine, requiring the burning of wood increased global warming exponentially. Then, along came the internal combustion engine. Even those huge solar panels proliferating everywhere are heating the roofs and ground directly beneath them.

If you ever stepped into a greenhouse, you'll know what I mean. This is something we humans wrought. If current conditions are maintained, we're all going to burn up.

I think it was 50 years ago when I heard about this thing called "greenhouse gas effect," meaning that only by applying stringent measures, will we be able to reverse the trend toward an even hotter climate, worldwide.

Yet there are people who deny there is such a thing; No global warming. One of them is the current President of the United States. He has suspended the U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Agreement, although the worst offenders, China and India, have agreed to lower their emissions to standards set in the Paris accord.

Please tell me i'm wrong Mr. President and another ice-age is on the way.
