TRIAL BY POLITICIAN

I shudder in horrifying expectation as the spectacle of all of those inveterate showoffs thrusting and parrying for position in the coliseum formed by the Senate Judicial Committee's two parties meeting in concert, in the vain hope they are prepared and ready to discern the truth of the matter: Is Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh guilty of sexual assault and therefore unworthy of the position of Justice of The Supreme Court of the United States?

No matter: Without adequate investigation, however long that could take, this is more than a rush to judgment. The Senators will have set out on a fools errand, a repeat of the circus of 1991, when the Senators comprising the Senate Judicial committee of that moment played to a nationwide audience estimated to be 20-million viewers. The winners: The advertising media, which charged premium rates for conveying a huge, rapt audience to advertisers.

FROM THE MEMORY BANK: Attorney Anita Hill, seen above speaking at the confirmation hearing of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, had worked with him for a time in 1982 at the U.S. Department of Education. During the hearing, she described how her co-worker had repeatedly regaled her with tales of his taste in pornography and personal sexual prowess. She considered his unrelenting urging to join with him in a "date" could only lead to aberrant behavior. This was not only uncalled for and uninvited, but constituted hurtful sexual harassment. Miss Hill concluded that the people of the United States deserved better.

The good old white boys in the Senate thought otherwise. The tenor of their questioning of her was embarrassing. One corpulent gentlemen in the inquisition rose to ask if Miss Hill was not "A Lady Scorned?"

No, We the People should not permit our Senators to do what Senator McConnell intends: Ram the confirmation of any Supreme Court Justice through the Senate without the prime investigative arm of our government, the FBI, doing a complete investigation of this matter. Good Judge Kavanaugh, The Judicial Committee, and the whole damned United States Government, can just wait. They've plenty to do in the meantime.

I would sure appreciate it if you would pass this on to your friends. (I want you and them to know that I pretty well voted the straight Republican ticket for 58 years).
