IRONY: AN OUTCOME OF AN EVENT
CONTRARY TO WHAT WAS EXPECTED
I began working on this essay by researching various opinions
handed down while the presumptive appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court, Amy
Coney Barrett, was sitting on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The special language of lawyer-speak is difficult for laypersons to
wade through and deals with such matters as an Indiana law that requires
funerals be held for the remains of an abortion. (No, I'm not going to go
there).
However, it is entirely possible that while her most
influential sponsor, President Trump, was introducing "A.C.B." to a coterie
of his most prominent and notably unmasked supporters - then gathered on the
White House lawn - the malady that Trump said would sort of dissipate in the
summer breeze was working its way on many of their vital organs.
I hope not. We as a people have suffered sufficient trial and
tribulation under the present administration.
I hope and pray that we survive the worst thing to strike
humankind since most life was nearly obliterated on this planet by past
disasters.
