THE FREEDOM CAUCUS SURE IS RAUCOUS

"Yesterday, I was informed by my HMO, United Healthcare under AARP MedicareComplete, that the hospital where I've been a patient several times since 2011 will no longer be part of the Tucson medical network supported by the prestigious Hartford Insurance Company.

My primary care physician and most of my specialists are affiliated with Northwest Medical Center. Some are within walking distance of the hospital. I reside less than five minutes away from any of them.

"To make sure your care is covered, you'll have to go to another network hospital," ordered my walking papers from AARP.

The directive went on to say, "You may also need to change specialists. You can use one of the following network hospitals in our area: (No name of any hospital or specialist was included). The rest of the paragraph was blank.

I called the number on the back of my membership card and was given the telephone number of  a mental hospital by the person who answered—which under the circumstances was not entirely inappropriate.

Now, I have more than a notion of how a few other patients feel, when they discover that Representative "Mo" Brooks, U.S. Representative, Republican stalwart of the Freedom Caucus, himself representing the freedom-loving people of the 5th congressional district of Alabama, dropped a one-sentence bill in the hopper of the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday, with no mention of further replacement legislation. If passed by the House and Senate, it would repeal the Affordable Care (Obamacare) Act in its entirety. ..as if the measure had never been enacted in the first place, leaving some 20-million or more Americans in the lurch. This is the way health care is treated in the Congo, South Sudan and Somalia. I am one of the fortunate many still getting Medicare.

Mo (Politicians often favor short, catchy names such Ike, Teddy, Bobby, Bush, Trump) does not support government-run, socialist health care...except of course for politicians, like himself.
